Jogging in heels is always difficult – something that one Italian school needed to think about. Secondary school l’istituto Tecnico Industriale di Avezzano, in L’Aquila, Italy, has apparently prohibited high heel shoes over 1.5 inches, filp flops and high wedges.
A local news agency reported that this Norm was put up as a result of worries that the shoes could prevent a fast departure in case of an earthquake.
The institution allegedly reviewed data before creating this rule encompassing dangerous footwear. In the end, there were over 14,000 high heel associated harms in the U.S. alone in 2012. “The directive is not the outcome of a puritanical dream,” Anna Amanzi, a teacher at the school, tells Ansa. “It is a serious condition to educate pupils prevention and instruction, particularly in a risk high seismic activity zone.”
The town was devastated by a 6.3 magnitude quake in late 2009, which took the lives of many and displaces over 65,000 people.
