Kerala’s Jatayu Nature Park to open in stages from Next Year Onwards
The initial stage of the Jatayu Nature Park, an ambitious tourism project worth Rs 100 crore in Kerala’s Kollam district, is all set to open in January 2016, says job head Rajiv Anchal . Part of it will probably be open to public screening in time for Onam, Kerala’s harvest festival, next year.
The nature park job envelopes little mountains, valleys, cliffs and rock formations spread over 65 acres in Chadayamangalam and continues to be thought to market mythological, experience and wellness tourism.
The highlight of the job is a giant sculpture of Jatayu, the mythological bird that attempted to rescue Sita from the clutches of Raavan in the Hindu epic Ramayana. Based on local legend, the bird fell here after it had been struck down by Raavana. The sculpture — measuring 200 feet long, 150 feet wide and 70 feet in height — has been described as the biggest bird statue on earth and can sit at the top of a hill. It’s going to house a 6D theater and an audiovisual based digital museum which will reveal peeks in the Ramayana.
Besides the sculpture, the nature park also offers an experience field with games like paint ball, laser tag and rock climbing, planned more at tourists from corporate businesses or big groups who’ve a taste for adventure. This stage will open in January itself.
The next stage is wellness-oriented, Anchal described, which furthers wellbeing bundles — mostly Ayurveda and Siddha – to travellers. That is principally aimed at superior clients and stars.
The park, which will be a PPP initiative designed on a BOT (build-operate-transfer) model involving the Kerala government and Guruchandrika Builders and Property Private Limited, which has funded the project, is being touted as the following huge thing for the state’s tourism model.
