Researchers explained that diagnostic ultrasound exposure during the first trimester of pregnancy is related to increased autism severity.
The study described that the greatest risk was connected to foetus and some genetic variations, which could lead to autism. Earlier research displayed ultrasound exposure in-utero affected mice to exhibit autism-like symptoms.
Nevertheless, the fresh study analysed the variability of symptoms in kids with autism, not the cause of autism. Researchers added that diagnostic ultrasound needed to be used only in medical necessity according to the recommendation of US Food and Drug Administration or FDA. Yet, the study did not find any report the effect of ultrasound for the second and third trimester.
